OMAHA, Neb. -- Kenny Perry went for broke, and now he is back in contention for a second straight win in a senior major. Perry shot a 6-under-par 64 at the Omaha Country Club on Saturday and, along with Fred Funk, will go into the final round of the U.S. Senior Open two shots behind leader Michael Allen. Perry, who was 10 shots off the lead after a 73 on Friday, figured he would need to halve the deficit to have a chance Sunday. He posted nines of 32-32 and got some help from Allen, who went from 63 on Friday to 72 on Saturday and was at 8-under 202. "I was in that rocking-chair seat," Perry said. "I was in a very aggressive mode, where if I go out and play great today, Ive got a chance to move my way up the leaderboard. Or if I dont play any good, its OK, too." It looked as if Funk, the 2009 champion, might fade after taking a double-bogey on No. 10. But he birdied the last two holes for a 67, rolling in a 35-foot putt on the 18th. Suddenly, he was right back in the tournament, too. "To make that putt on 18 was a bonus," Funk said. "Having that good finish was great. At least it kept me in the game." Allen, a journeyman on the regular tour and a four-time winner since joining the senior tour in 2009, started with a 5-shot lead -- the largest after 36 holes in the tournaments 34-year history. He went out in even-par 35, but he bogeyed three holes on the back nine and came in with a 37. "Obviously, yesterday was a lot of fun. I made a lot of birdies and very few bogeys," Allen said. "Today I had a few more bads than goods, but its fun. Its nice to be in the lead. If youd have given me a 2-shot lead to start the week, I would have been pretty thrilled to have it, Im sure." The 54-year-old Allen has been playing through neck pain. He rubbed the right side of his neck Saturday as he walked up the last two fairways. He saved par on the 17th but bogeyed No. 18 to set the stage for a dramatic finish. "For a guy whos never had an injury, this has kind of been interesting for me, to see what guys have to go through," Allen said. "Im trying to get through it. Its still tight." Rocco Mediate, who was Allens closest pursuer at the tournaments midway point, had bogeys on four of five holes in the middle of his round and sat five shots off the lead after a 72. Perry, who won the Senior Players Championship two weeks ago, matched Corey Pavin for low round of the day. "I birdied the first two holes right out of the gate, kind of set the tone for the day, and it was foot to the floor," Perry said. "I was trying to birdie every hole out there, and I had so many great opportunities. I mean, I played a phenomenal day. It could have been 59." Perry started his push with an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole, leaving himself only 155 yards to the hole after his drive. From there he hit a 9-iron to tap-in range. He was the only golfer to birdie the 501-yard, par-4 10th. He drove into the rough but recovered with a pitching wedge to 20 feet. He birdied the par-3 16th and the 297-yard, par-4 17th to get to six under for the tournament. Perry hopes the heavy lifting was done Saturday and that he wont have to go as low Sunday. "But if you do shoot that round," he said, "youll win the tournament." Pavin, who tied for second last year, bounced back from a 73 and was lurking two shots behind Perry and Funk and four behind Allen. "When the USGA sets up the golf course, funny things can happen on Sunday," Pavin said. "Ive seen it time and time again. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesnt where guys come back. Probably going to need a little help, but well see what happens out there with how Michael plays." Jesus Molina Mexico Jersey . LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. Rafael Marquez Mexico Jersey . The 29-year-old from Port Colborne, Ont., has nothing but good things to say about former U.S. marine Liz (Girlrilla) Carmouche ahead of their co-main event Wednesday on the UFCs "Fight for the Troops" televised card in Fort Campbell, Ky. http://www.nationalsoccermexico.com/carlos-vela-mexico-jersey/ . The incident occurred at 19:56 of the second period of the Kings 4-2 road win over Edmonton on Sunday. Nolan punched Oilers forward Jesse Joensuu in the jaw in front of the Kings goal during a scrum. Isaac Brizuela Jersey . -- Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings was selected Monday to his second straight Pro Bowl, while guard Kyle Long made it after a solid rookie season. Jose de Jesus Corona Jersey . 10 Texas A&Ms offence dominated as usual against SMU. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Joe Haden is still searching for answers, knowing he and the Cleveland Browns have two chances left to avoid matching the NFLs record for futility.Trying to figure out what we could have done better, what I could have done better, Haden said. We come in here every single week after a loss, and its just tough. It gets harder and harder, but its nobody that can change it but us.The veteran cornerback spoke Sunday after the Browns dropped to 0-14 following a 33-13 loss to the Buffalo Bills .Cleveland matched the worst record to this point in a season, set by the 1976 Buccaneers and 1980 Saints and the 2008 Lions. Detroit is the NFLs only team to go without a win in a 16-game season.First-year coach Hue Jackson isnt ruling out anything when it comes to helping the Browns find that elusive win and end an 0-17 streak dating to last season.Everything is going to be on the table, said Jackson, adding that includes quarterback after Robert Griffin III was inconsistent in making his second straight start. We have nowhere to go up, but we have a lot of work to do, he added. This wasnt my dream by any stretch of imagination. But Im not running from this.Funny Jackson should mention running, because their defense was unable to stop the Bills from running all over them.LeSean McCoy had a season-high 153 yards rushing and scored twice to break the game open on consecutive possessions spanning the third and fourth quarters. The Bills (7-7) stayed mathematically in the playoff picture at a time when coach Rex Ryan and quarterback Tyrod Taylors futures are in question beyond this season.PUCKS VS. PIGSKINS: Bills center Eric Wood, sidelined by a broken leg, backed both Ryan and Taylor in favoring continuity in a message to team owners Terry and Kim Pegula, who also own the NHL Buffalo Sabres. This isnt like hockey where you scrap your franchise for a guy that you know is coming like an Eichel or McDavid, Wood told The Associated Press, referring to Buffalos Jack Eichel and Edmontons Connor McDavid, the top two picks in the 2015 draft. This is football. You can get a No. 1 draft pick, and the best guy on thee board is a tackle that year, and a tackle doesnt change your franchise.ddddddddddddN THE RUN: McCoy upped his season total to 1,129 yards rushing and has now scored 12 TDs rushing, the most since Willis McGahee had 13 in 2004. It also marked his sixth game topping 100 yards rushing this season.Add in Mike Gillislees 3-yard touchdown run and the Bills have scored 27 on the ground to surpass the franchise record of 26 set in 1975 during the O.J. Simpson era.Taylor had 49 yards rushing to up his season total to 520, and 48 short of matching the franchise record for quarterbacks he set last year.SACK ATTACK IS BACK: After being held without a sack for two consecutive games, the Bills got to Griffin five times to match a single-season high. That included defensive tackle Kyle Williams being credited with 1 1/2 to up his career total a week after sitting out because of a sore back. You dont replace a guy like that, Ryan said. You notice when theyre gone and we certainly missed him last week.SCRAMBLER: Griffin scored on a nifty 18-yard run in which he was flushed from the pocket, outraced linebacker Jerry Hughes and had enough momentum to dive across the goal line after being hit by linebacker Preston Brown. After scoring on 1-yard run in a 23-10 loss to Cincinnati the previous week, he became Clevelands first quarterback to score TDs rushing in consecutive games since Charlie Frye had a three-game streak in 2006.Griffin went 17 of 28 for 196 yards passing, and had a team-best 48 yards rushing.STILL TRAILING: Down 3-0, the Browns had a chance to take a lead when facing first-and-goal at the 5 on their second drive. They instead went backward. Running back Isaiah Crowell lost 2 yards followed by Griffin being sacked twice.Cody Parkey hit a 35-yard field goal to tie the game.Cleveland has not held a lead in 17-plus quarters, dating to a 7-6 edge over Baltimore in the third quarter of a 28-7 loss on Nov. 10.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
