(Sports Network) - Doug Fister hopes to find better success this season against the Texas Rangers, as the Detroit Tigers conclude their four-game set against them at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Fister enters Sunday with a 5-1 record and 3.06 ERA, but he surrendered nine runs over 4 1/3 innings in his lone start against Texas last season. For his career, Fister is 2-4 with a 5.61 ERA in seven starts against Texas. The 29- year old right-hander bounced back from a loss to the Nationals by limiting Houston to two runs over seven innings to collect a winning decision on Tuesday. Detroit will need a good showing from Fister as it tries to slow down the Rangers offense. Elvis Andrus had a career-high five hits to go with three runs scored and two RBI to lift the Rangers to a 7-2 win on Saturday. "He had a good night tonight," praised Rangers manager Ron Washington. "He stayed up in the big part of the field. We certainly needed that." Andrus had a double, triple and also stole two bags as Texas won for the fourth time in its last five contests to up its record to a major league-best 28-15. Lance Berkman went 2-for-4 with two RBI while Mitch Moreland hit his 10th home run of the season in the triumph. The damage could have been much worse as Texas hit 4-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left nine on base. The Rangers were able to send Anibal Sanchez to the showers early by producing nine hits and six runs off of the Tigers starter. Both of the Tigers runs came in the third inning as Torii Hunter drove in a run with a double to right and scored on Prince Fielders RBI single. Miguel Cabrera is now batting an MLB-leading .373 after going 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to six games on Saturday. The reigning league MVP is already building a strong resume to be considered for the award again as he has tallied eight homers and 42 RBI. Cabrera is a big part of why Detroit leads the MLB in batting average (.278) and on base percentage (.346). Derek Holland will get the nod for Texas as it tries to win the series. The Rangers southpaw took a no decision from his last start after giving up four runs in 5 2/3 innings versus Oakland. "He wasnt putting the ball in the same spots he had been," manager Ron Washington said. "I dont know if he lost his focus, but he just wasnt in tune with the game anymore. It looked like it almost got out of control for him." Holland submitted four scoreless innings of work to begin the game before giving up two small-ball runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Still, he is 1-1 with a 1.57 ERA in three home starts on the season. Texas still holds a 6 1/2 game lead over Oakland for first place in the AL West. The Tigers are one game behind Cleveland for first place in the AL Central after losing seven of their last 11 games. Maurice Richard Canadiens Jersey . Ken Dryden Canadiens Jersey . -- Aldon Smith believes he is on the path to being sober for good. DAVIE, Fla. -- University of Michigan alum Stephen Ross has the Wolverines fight song for his ring tone, and it went off as his other team -- the Miami Dolphins -- was about to take the field for the first training camp practice Friday morning. The Dolphins owner pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and answered the call.Hello, Jim? Ross said.Ross was joking, although he and Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh do talk often. And Harbaugh wont be the Dolphins next coach, Ross said, because it would be too awkward prying him away from Ann Arbor.Hes not coming here, Ross said. Ive got my name on too many building up there. But we dont have to worry -- we have a great guy.Thats to be determined, starting with Fridays practice. The Dolphins opened camp under Adam Gase, their ninth coach since 2004, and his assignment is to end an eight-year playoff drought. In July, even the Dolphins are optimistic.Everybody starts undefeated and with great expectations, Ross said. This year Im particularly excited. I think weve done a lot in the organization over the last year. Im excited as I can be.The Dolphins promoted Chris Grier to general manager in January, and he and executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum have brought in 45 new players for the new coaching staff.Gase began sorting it all out on a typically sweltering summer morning. The energy level was high, and sustaining that will be the challenge, Gase said. The first day of practice, everybodys excited to get back out there, Gase said. The telling parts going to be when were about six or seven days into this thing and in full pads. Where are we going to be then?Word of the first reinforcement came during practice, when the Dolphins learned defensive end Dion Jordan has been reinstated by the NFL after serving a suspension for 15 months foor his latest violation of the leagues substance abuse policy.dddddddddddd Jordan can participate in meetings and conditioning work immediately, and is expected to join practice soon.Miami began camp without five players who went on the active-physically unable to perform list, including four-time Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster, who is recovering from Achilles tendon surgery last season. Also put on PUP were cornerbacks Bobby McCain and Xavien Howard, running back Damien Williams and linebacker Zach Vigil. All are day to day, Gase said, which means they could join practice soon. The absences of McCain and Howard compound worries at cornerback, perhaps Miamis thinnest position. And theres little experience at running back without Foster, who signed a $1.5 million, one-year deal this month with Miami and is expected to compete for backup duty behind second-year pro Jay Ajayi.Despite the injuries, camp began with players confident the Dolphins are headed in the right direction under their new coach. The culture were building is good, quarterback Ryan Tannehill said. I think that guys have the right mindset as a team.Reviews of the squads condition were mixed. Among those making a positive impression was four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake, who is only nine months removed from Achilles tendon surgery. It doesnt surprise me, because the guy is a physical freak, Gase said. But when asked if everyone passed the conditioning test, Gase managed a weak smile.Maybe not, he said.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Steve-Wine.
